Convert WebM to MOV/QuickTime
|
WebM to MOV Converter Software converts WebM files to MOV
with H.264 or MPEG-4 video codecs. The MOV is QuickTime File Format (QTFF) used
natively by the QuickTime application. The MOV is very common on Mac OS like WMV
on Windows. It's a great tool for converting format when transferring file to
Mac OS. The WebM to MOV Converter Software also supports other video, audio,
and device formats, for example, MP2, M4V, MP4, Android Tablet, SWF, OGM, PPM image sequence, etc.
The software could convert OGG to AC3, OGV to MPG, WebM to Xvid, H264 to ASF, DIVX to 3G2,
and so on.
WebM to MOV Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000 (both x86 and 64-bit platforms).
What is WebM?
WebM is an open media file format designed for the web. WebM files consist
of video streams compressed with the VP8 video codec and audio streams
compressed with the Vorbis audio codec. The WebM file structure is based
on the Matroska media container. WebM includes: VP8, a high-quality video
codec we are releasing today under a BSD-style, royalty-free license; Vorbis,
an already open source and broadly implemented audio codec; a container
format based on a subset of the Matroska media container. VP8 is a highly
efficient video compression technology that was developed by On2 Technologies.
Google acquired On2 in February, 2010. For more information, see the -VP8
Video Codec" section below. A WebM file consists of VP8 video and
Vorbis audio streams, in a container based on a profile of Matroska. Logitech
is planning to use WebM as part of a video calling service. On 7 January
2011, Rockchip released the world's first chip to host a full hardware
implementation of 1080p VP8 decoding. The video acceleration in the RK29xx
chip is handled by the WebM Project's G-Series 1 hardware decoder IP. Also
ST-Ericsson and Huawei have hardware implementations in their computer
chips. In mid-2010, Simon Phipps, a board member for the Open Source Initiative,
expressed doubts as to whether the original WebM license was an open-source
license, since it had not been submitted to the OSI for approval. Google
acquired ON2, the original developer of VP8 technology. VP8 is now an open
and free technology. The Free Software Foundation, which maintains the
Free Software Definition, has given its endorsement for WebM and VP8 and
considers the software's license to be compatible with the GNU General
Public License.
What is MOV?
The native file format for QuickTime video, QuickTime File Format, specifies
a multimedia container file that contains one or more tracks, each of which
stores a particular type of data: audio, video, effects, or text (e.g.
for subtitles). As a multimedia stardand, QuickTime is not purely linear.
It could contain interactivity and causes problems when converting to other
video formats. Though MOV files are quite often found in the web, to play
them on Windows computer one has to install an extra component or convert
to other format. MOV files are used by Apple Quicktime player, which is
a specific video player for Apple. So, if you have a video on an IPOD type
device that ends in ".mov", or if you have such a file on your
computer, it may not be compatible with other types of players, especially
simpler ones. In order to use a MOV file in a player that needs a more
compatible format such as MPEG, you must do a conversion. MOV video file
is common multimedia format often used for saving movies and other video
files, uses a proprietary compression algorithm developed by Apple Computer,
compatible with both Macintosh and Windows platforms. The format specifies
a multimedia container file that contains one or more tracks, each of which
stores a particular type of data: audio, video, effects, or text (e.g.
for subtitles). In order to play any .mov file, you must have QuickTime
installed on your computer. If you are using a Mac computer, you may already
have the application. If you would like to play the .mov file on your Window
Media Player application, you must download the QuickTime Alternative application.
Files that use the MOV file extension are created by QuickTime, Apple's
media software.
