The ASF file type is primarily associated with Advanced Streaming Format

has been submitted to the ISO (International Organization for Standardization)

Explorer and Firefox) do not function as might be expected with the 'new'
extensions: even when a .wma or .wmv file is specifically encoded for progressive
download, browsers still proceed to completely download the file before
playing it. This can, however, be easily remedied by simply renaming the
.wma or .wmv file to the old extension .asf. They can be compressed using
a variety of video codecs. Files of ASF format support playback from digital
media servers, HTTP servers, and local storage devices. ASF files often
contain Windows Media Audio (.WMA) or Windows Media Video (.WMV) data.
Audio and/or Video content compressed with a wide variety of codecs can
be stored in an ASF file and played back with the Windows Media Player
(provided the appropriate codecs are installed), streamed with Windows
Media Services or optionally packaged with Windows Media Rights Manager.
The current version of Windows Media Encoder produces files with the extension
.WMA (and MIME-type 'audio/x-ms-wma') and .WMV (MIME-type 'video/x-ms-asf').
The format doesn't specify the way video or audio should be encoded. As
a part of the Windows Media framework, ASF is especially used for streaming
media.

protectors that magnetically attach and align to the face of the iPad 2.
The cover has three folds which allow it to convert into a stand, which
is also held together by magnets. While original iPad owners could purchase
a black case that included a similarly folding cover, the Smart Cover is
meant to be more minimal, easily detachable, and protects only the screen.
Apple sells a number of accessories for the iPad that increase its functionality
and ease of use, including cases to protect the tablet, stands to facilitate
non-mobile use of the computer and external keyboards for easier typing.
