What is EVO?
An EVO file (Enhanced VOB) is a container format contained in HD DVD video media. HD DVD-RAM has a single-layer capacity of 20 GB. Like the original DVD format, the data layer of an HD DVD is 0.6 mm below the surface to physically protect the data layer from damage. Because all variants except 3* DVD and HD REC employed a blue laser with a shorter wavelength, HD DVD could store about 3.2 times as much data per layer as its predecessor (maximum capacity: 15 GB per layer instead of 4.7 GB per layer). HD DVD (short for High-Definition/Density DVD) is a discontinued high-density optical disc format for storing data and high-definition video. A wide variety of resolutions are supported, from low-resolution CIF, all SDTV resolutions supported by DVD-Video, and HDTV formats: 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. HD DVD-ROM, HD DVD-R and HD DVD-RW have a single-layer capacity of 15 GB, and a dual-layer capacity of 30 GB. All HD DVD players are required to decode uncompressed linear PCM, Dolby Digital AC-3, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, Dolby Digital Plus E-AC-3 and Dolby TrueHD. HD DVD drives can also be used with a desktop/laptop personal computer (PC) running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard", and many varieties of Linux. For the highest-fidelity audio experience, HD DVD offers content-producers the choice of LPCM, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The extensions are in the form of private stream data and their interpretation. The HD DVD Promotion Group was dissolved on March 28, 2008. It is an extension to VOB, which is an extension to MPEG-2 Program stream. All HD DVD titles use UDF version 2.5 as the file system. In this file system, multiplexed audio and video streams are stored in EVO container format.

What is 3GP?
3GP is container formats similar to MPEG-4 Part 14 (MP4), which is also based on MPEG-4 Part 12. The 3GP file type is primarily associated with '3GPP'. Most 3G capable mobile phones support the playback and recording of video in 3GP format (memory, maximum filesize for playback and recording, and resolution limits exist and vary). The Nintendo DSi supports .3gp on an SD card. 3GPP is the new worldwide standards for the creation, delivery and playback of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless networks. When transferred to a computer, 3GP movies can be viewed on Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms with MPlayer and VLC media player. Programs such as Media Player Classic, K-Multimedia Player, Totem, RealPlayer, QuickTime, and GOM Player can also be used. Some newer/higher-end phones without 3G capabilities may also playback and record in this format (again, with said limitations). 3GPP file format was designed for GSM-based Phones and may have the filename extension ".3gp". Audio imported from CD onto a PlayStation 3 when it is set to encode to the MPEG-4 AAC codec will copy onto USB devices in the 3GP format. The 3GP is structurally based on the ISO base media file format defined in ISO/IEC 14496-12 - MPEG-4 Part 12, but older versions of the 3GP file format did not use some of its features. It also contains descriptions of image sizes and bitrate. The Macintosh type is: 3GPP. The MP4 and the AVC file format specifications described usage of MPEG-4 content in the ISO base media file format. A 3GP file is always big-endian, storing and transferring the most significant bytes first. Some cell phones use the .mp4 extension for 3GP video.
