Convert 3G2 to JPG/JPEG Sequence
|
JPG/JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression
for digital photography (image). The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing
a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves
10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.
3G2 to JPG/JPEG Converter Software converts 3G2 to JPG/JPEG
sequence files. So, you could get every frame image of 3G2 in
JPG/JPEG format. You can also set output frame rate and JPG/JPEG resolution in
the software. The output JPG/JPEG files look something like the following screen
shot.
The software also supports other formats and portable devices such as CAF (Core Audio Format), FLV, AAC, Windows Phone, OGM, TIFF image sequence, MP2,
etc. The software could convert VOB to PPM image sequence, 3G2 to PPM image sequence, MPEG to iPad, MOV to OGM, DAT to AIFF, and so on.
3G2 to JPG/JPEG Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is 3G2?
3G2 (3GPP2 file format) is a multimedia container format defined by the
3GPP2 for 3G CDMA2000 multimedia services. However, if you are trying to
view the file on a your computer, you will have to convert the file into
a more common video file format. In general, if a cell phone record a 3g2
video, it should conform to the 3G2 standard. The 3GPP2 specification calls
out specific types of media that can exist in .3g2 file. 3G2 is based on
the MPEG-4 standard which was derived from Apple's QuickTime. QuickTime
6.5 includes support for key components of the 3GPP2 specification. In
addition, 3G2 stores audio streams as EVRC, EVRC-B, EVRC-WB, 13K (QCELP),
SMV or VMR-WB, which was specified by 3GPP2 for use in ISO base media file
format. It is very similar to the 3GP file format, but has some extensions
and limitations in comparison to 3GP. 3G2 comprises North American and
Asian interests developing global specifications for ANSI/TIA/EIA-41 Cellular
Radiotelecommunication Intersystem Operations network evolution to 3G and
global specifications for the radio transmission technologies (RTTs) supported
by ANSI/TIA/EIA-41. For the storage of MPEG-4 media (MPEG-4 Part 2, MPEG-4
Part 3 - AAC, MPEG-4 Part 10 - H.264/AVC) in 3G2 files, the 3G2 specification
refers to the MP4 file format and the AVC file format specification, which
described usage of this content in the ISO base media file format. The
3G2 file format can store the same video streams and most of the audio
streams used in the 3GP file format. You can easily view your 3G2 videos
on your cell phone. A 3G mobile phone can play 3G2 files, but some 2G and
4G phones can as well.
What is JPG?
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. It is a standard method
of compressing photographic images. We also call JPEG the file format which
employs this compression. The resulting compression ratio can be varied
according to need by being more or less aggressive in the divisors used
in the quantization phase. There is no standardized extension for code-stream
data because code-stream data is not to be considered to be stored in files
in the first place, though when done for testing purposes, the extension
.jpc or .j2k appear frequently. The previous quantized DC coefficient is
used to predict the current quantized DC coefficient. The difference between
the two is encoded rather than the actual value. The encoding of the 63
quantized AC coefficients does not use such prediction differencing. The
file format known as "JPEG Interchange Format" (JIF) is specified
in Annex B of the standard. However, this "pure" file format
is rarely used, primarily because of the difficulty of programming encoders
and decoders that fully implement all aspects of the standard and because
of certain shortcomings of the standard: Color space definition; Component
sub-sampling registration; Pixel aspect ratio definition. Since the quantization
stage always results in a loss of information, JPEG standard is always
a lossy compression codec. (Information is lost both in quantizing and
rounding of the floating-point numbers.) Even if the quantization matrix
is a matrix of ones, information will still be lost in the rounding step.
Similar to JPEG-1, JPEG 2000 defines both a file format and a code stream.
Whereas the latter entirely describes the image samples, the former includes
additional meta-information such as the resolution of the image or the
color space that has been used to encode the image.
