Convert AVI to BMP Sequence
|
The BMP file format, also known as bitmap image file or
Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) file format or simply a bitmap, is a raster graphics
image file format used to store bitmap digital images, independently of the display
device (such as a graphics adapter), especially on Microsoft Windows and OS/2
operating systems. The BMP is stored uncompressed; so it's a lossless image format,
but file size is very big.
AVI to BMP Converter Software converts AVI to BMP sequence files.
With the software, you could get every frame image of AVI in BMP format. The
converter software also supports other output image formats such as JPG,
PNG, and TIFF. You can convert only a part of AVI to BMP instead of the entire
file. And you can set how many frames per second to be extracted with the software.
The output BMP files look something like this.
The software also supports other formats and portable devices such as ASF, M4V, SWF, OGM, M4A (MPEG-4 audio), iPad, VOB (DVD Video),
etc. The software could convert OGV to MP4, DVD to AMR, DVR-MS to OGM, MPEG to FLV, H264 to AC3, and so on.
AVI to BMP Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is AVI?
AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave, defined by Microsoft. There are
several competing approaches to including a time code in AVI files, which
affects usability of the format in film and television post-production,
although it is widely used. For WAV audio files, Broadcast Wave extensions
were designed to standardize post-production metadata, but an equivalent
for AVI files has not emerged. One of the first terms a digital video freshman
gets to know is codec. AVI is simply a file format, that doesn't itself
define how the video inside the file was made and how it should be opened.
So now there are hundreds of avi files that look similar but are completely
different inside. AVI and codec are inseparable. An AVI file may carry
audio/visual data inside the chunks in virtually any compression scheme,
including Full Frame (Uncompressed), Intel Real Time (Indeo), Cinepak,
Motion JPEG, Editable MPEG, VDOWave, ClearVideo / RealVideo, QPEG, and
MPEG-4 Video. In addition, AVI files can embed Extensible Metadata Platform
(XMP). By way of the RIFF format, the audio-visual data contained in the
"movi" chunk can be encoded or decoded by software called a codec,
which is an abbreviation for (en)coder/decoder. Video container or wrapper
format created by Microsoft; stores video data that may be encoded in a
variety of codecs; typically uses less compression than similar formats
such as .MPEG and .MOV. The AVI container has no native support for modern
MPEG-4 features like B-Frames. Being developed by Microsoft in 1992, it
has become so wide spread that many people consider it de facto standard
for storing video and audio information on PC.
What is BMP?
BMP is an image file format created by Microsoft. Also called 'bitmap'
or DIB (device independent bitmap) file format, it is used to store bitmap
digital images mainly in the Microsoft Windows environment. The other platforms
that support the BMP file format are OS/2 and MS-DOS. Windows bitmap files
are stored in a device-independent bitmap (DIB) format that allows Windows
to display the bitmap on any type of display device. The term "device
independent" means that the bitmap specifies pixel color in a form
independent of the method used by a display to represent color. The default
filename extension of a Windows DIB file is .BMP. The colors in the color
table are usually specified in the 4-byte per entry 8.8.8.0.8 format (in
RGBAX notation). The color table used with the OS/2 BITMAPCOREHEADER uses
the 3-byte per entry 8.8.8.0.0 format. In all cases, the pixel array must
begin at a memory address that is a multiple of 4 bytes. In non-packed
DIBs loaded in memory, the optional color profile data should be located
immediately after the color table and before the gap1 and pixel array.
The new extended headers can be used with some GDI functions instead of
the older ones, providing more functionality. Since the GDI supports a
function for loading bitmap files, typical Windows applications use that
functionality. One consequence of this is that for such applications, the
BMP formats that they support match the formats supported by the Windows
version being run. While most BMP files have a relatively large file size
due to lack of any compression (or generally low-ratio run-length encoding
on palletized images), many BMP files can be considerably compressed with
lossless data compression algorithms such as ZIP because they contain redundant
data. Some formats, such as RAR, even include routines specifically targeted
at efficient compression of such data.
