Convert MOD to MOV/QuickTime
|
MOD to MOV Converter Software converts MOD files to MOV
with H.264 or MPEG-4 video codecs. The MOV is QuickTime File Format (QTFF) used
natively by the QuickTime application. The MOV is very common on Mac OS like WMV
on Windows. It's a great tool for converting format when transferring file to
Mac OS. The MOD to MOV Converter Software also supports other video, audio,
and device formats, for example, Android Phone, MP3, SWF, MP2, MPG, ASF, WMA, etc.
The software could convert DVD to PPM image sequence, XVID to AC3, AVI to AAC, DVD to M4V, MPEG to OGV,
and so on.
MOD to MOV Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000 (both x86 and 64-bit platforms).
What is MOD?
Video file captured with a JVC EVERIO digital camcorder, such as the EVERIO
GZ-MC100, MG130, MG7230, and MG630, or with Canon FS and Panasonic D-Snap
SD-card camcorders; uses MPEG2 compression for video and MPEG-1 Audio Layer
II compression for the audio track. As of 2011, MOD format is still being
used in standard definition camcorders manufactured by JVC, Panasonic and
Canon. Depending on the make and model of your digital camcorder, your
home videos may be saved as MOD files. In January 2008 Canon unveiled a
family of tapeless standard definition consumer camcorders: the FS100,
FS10 and FS11. All these camcorders record in MOD format. Transport stream
files can be converted into more common program stream files without recompressing
the video itself. Sony employs MPEG-2 video encoding and Program Stream
container in its standard definition camcorders too, but the directory
structure is different from MOD, and the media files have conventional
MPG extension. One of TOD recording modes, "1440CBR", has the
same frame size, aspect ratio and frame rate as 1080i HDV, and can be loosely
called "HDV on disk". MOD files can be opened and exported to
a different video file format using the software included with the digital
camcorder. This video can be easily authored for watching on a DVD player
without recompression, because it is fully compliant with DVD-video standard.
Format names correspond to extensions of video files. Neither JVC nor Panasonic,
who pioneered the format, explained the meaning of the file extensions,
and the formats were never given an official name. The first camcorders
that used MOD format appeared in 2003. JVC introduced the Everio GZ-MG30,
which recorded directly to an internal hard disk drive.
What is MOV?
MOV is a common file extension, especially when working with Quicktime,
which Apple owns and developed the MOV file to go with it, according to
File Info. Tracks are maintained in a hierarchical data structure consisting
of objects called atoms. An atom can be a parent to other atoms or it can
contain media or edit data, but it cannot do both. Although this file is
created and designed by Apple, the video format has become popular enough
that both systems accept .mov content (otherwise, a majority of the video
files downloaded form the Internet become unusable on Windows-based systems).
As a multimedia stardand, QuickTime is not purely linear. It could contain
interactivity and causes problems when converting to other video formats.
In order to play any .mov file, you must have QuickTime installed on your
computer. If you are using a Mac computer, you may already have the application.
If you would like to play the .mov file on your Window Media Player application,
you must download the QuickTime Alternative application. The advantage
of MOV files is the ability to contain abstract data references for the
media data. That means that they can be easily edited - no need to rewrite
all media data after editing. MOV files are used by Apple Quicktime player,
which is a specific video player for Apple. So, if you have a video on
an IPOD type device that ends in ".mov", or if you have such
a file on your computer, it may not be compatible with other types of players,
especially simpler ones. In order to use a MOV file in a player that needs
a more compatible format such as MPEG, you must do a conversion. If you
want to play MOV files on your computer, you'll have to download Apple's
own Quicktime player from its website.
