Convert AVI to MOV/QuickTime
|
AVI to MOV Converter Software converts AVI files to MOV
with H.264 or MPEG-4 video codecs. The MOV is QuickTime File Format (QTFF) used
natively by the QuickTime application. The MOV is very common on Mac OS like WMV
on Windows. It's a great tool for converting format when transferring file to
Mac OS. The AVI to MOV Converter Software also supports other video, audio,
and device formats, for example, M4B (MPEG-4 audiobook), M4A (MPEG-4 audio), FLV, DivX, ALAC (Apple Lossless), AIFF, M4V, etc.
The software could convert AVI to WMA, 3G2 to CAF (Core Audio Format), 3GP to PPM image sequence, DVR-MS to H.264, RM to AAC,
and so on.
AVI to MOV Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000 (both x86 and 64-bit platforms).
What is AVI?
AVI is a media container very similar to QuickTime, but with a unique data
format. Recent files might be compressed with one or another codecs (compression
standard). One of the first terms a digital video freshman gets to know
is codec. Generally speaking, playing an AVI requires two things: a video
player software and a codec. An AVI file may carry audio/visual data inside
the chunks in virtually any compression scheme, including Full Frame (Uncompressed),
Intel Real Time (Indeo), Cinepak, Motion JPEG, Editable MPEG, VDOWave,
ClearVideo / RealVideo, QPEG, and MPEG-4 Video. AVI is Microsoft's response
to Apple's QuickTime technology. AVI files can be played by various video
players, but the player must support the codec used to encode the video
data. Upon creation of the file, the codec translates between raw data
and the (compressed) data format used inside the chunk. Uncompressed AVI:
AVI files can be created with no Compression, resulting in extremely large
file sizes, but with no loss of quality from the input video to the saved
file. This also requires no codecs to be installed, either for saving or
playback. This is generally not recommended. AVI combines audio and video
into a single file in a standard container to allow simultaneous playback.
AVI and codec are inseparable. AVI is not intended to contain variable
frame rate material. Recent files might be compressed with one or another
codecs (like DivX and XviD). It can also be seen with VLC Player, MPlayer,
The KMPlayer. For WAV audio files, Broadcast Wave extensions were designed
to standardize post-production metadata, but an equivalent for AVI files
has not emerged.
What is MOV?
Common multimedia format often used for saving movies and other video files;
uses a proprietary compression algorithm developed by Apple Computer; compatible
with both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Although this file is created
and designed by Apple, the video format has become popular enough that
both systems accept .mov content (otherwise, a majority of the video files
downloaded form the Internet become unusable on Windows-based systems).
A .mov video file is in the default format for all Mac computers. In order
to play any .mov file, you must have QuickTime installed on your computer.
If you are using a Mac computer, you may already have the application.
If you would like to play the .mov file on your Window Media Player application,
you must download the QuickTime Alternative application. These files will
also play on video iPods, such as the iPod Touch. QuickTime is an extensible
multimedia framework developed by Apple Inc., capable of handling various
formats of digital video, picture, sound, panoramic images, and interactivity.
The classic version of QuickTime is available for Windows XP and later,
as well as Mac OS X Leopard and later operating systems. A file that has
a .mov extension means that it is in the QuickTime file format. Files that
use the MOV file extension are created by QuickTime, Apple's media software.
Other media programs and digital devices, including Windows Media Player
and many digital cameras, also use the format to store video files. The
regular (and free) version of Quicktime allows you to play these files
from any source--you can play files on your hard drive or ones embedded
into web pages on the Internet.
