Convert DAT to WebM
|
Total Video Audio Converter converts DAT files to WebM easily. The
software is a professional DAT to WebM Converter. You could
customize video size, frame rate, and bit rate with the converter so that the output
file size is controllable. Besides WebM, the converter converts DAT files
to OGG/OGM/OGV and H.264 that are HTML5 video formats either. Then, you can
easily add your video to your
website using HTML5.
The software is also an all-in-one video converter that converts any formats
to popular video formats such as CAF (Core Audio Format), WAV, iPod, AVI, VOB (DVD Video), DivX, SWF, etc. It could convert TS to SWF, WebM to PNG image sequence, MPEG to AC3, OGG to AAC, WMV to Windows Phone,
and so on.
Total Video Audio Converter supports batch conversion and, is full compatible
with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is DAT?
Video CD (VCD) MPEG-1 movie file. Windows Media Player prior to version
9 and QuickTime Player do not support playing VCD directly, though they
can play the .DAT files (stored under MPEGAV for video and audio data)
reliably, and plugins were available. Video CDs are not popular in the
US, Canada and Europe, so its support is limited among mainstream software.
Video stream from a Video CD (VCD) disc; typically saved in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2
format; contains the actual video data that is played from the VCD. By
compressing both the video and audio streams, a VCD is able to hold 74
minutes of picture and sound information, nearly the same duration as a
standard 79 minute audio CD. Poorly compressed VCD video can sometimes
be lower quality than VHS video, but VCD exhibits block artifacts rather
than analog noise, like VHS does, and does not deteriorate further with
each use. VCD video is mostly compatible with the DVD-Video standard, except
for any video encoded at 23.976 frames per second, which must use 3:2 pulldown.
The disc format is also supported using Windows Media Player Classic variations
and VLC Media Player both support VCDs natively. Although many DVD video
players support playback of VCDs, VCD video is only compatible with the
DVD-Video standard if encoded at 29.97 frames per second or 25 frames per
second. Audio specifications: Codec: MPEG-1 Audio Layer II; Frequency:
44,100 hertz (44.1 kHz); Output: Dual channel or stereo; Bitrate: 224 kilobits
per second; Rate Control: Constant bitrate. Overall picture quality is
intended to be comparable to VHS video. 352x240 (or SIF) resolution was
chosen because it is half the vertical, and half the horizontal resolution
of NTSC video.
What is WebM?
WebM is an audio-video format designed to provide royalty-free, open video
compression for use with HTML5 video. The project's development is sponsored
by Google Inc. In mid-2010, Simon Phipps, a board member for the Open Source
Initiative, expressed doubts as to whether the original WebM license was
an open-source license, since it had not been submitted to the OSI for
approval. WebM Project licenses VP8 hardware accelerators (RTL IP) to semiconductor
companies for 1080p encoding and decoding at zero cost. AMD, ARM and Broadcom
have announced support for hardware acceleration of the WebM format. Intel
is also considering hardware-based acceleration for WebM in its Atom-based
TV chips if the format gains popularity. Qualcomm and Texas Instruments
have announced support, with native support coming to the TI OMAP processor.
Chip&Media have announced a fully hardware decoder for VP8 that can
decode full HD resolution VP8 streams at 60 frames per second. Android
is WebM-enabled since version 2.3 - Gingerbread, which was first made available
via the Nexus S mobile phone. A key factor in the web's success is that
its core technologies such as HTML, HTTP, and TCP/IP are open for anyone
to implement and improve. With video being core to the web experience,
a high-quality, open video format choice is needed. WebM is 100% free,
and open-sourced under a BSD-style license. The Free Software Foundation,
which maintains the Free Software Definition, has given its endorsement
for WebM and VP8 and considers the software's license to be compatible
with the GNU General Public License. Also ST-Ericsson and Huawei have hardware
implementations in their computer chips.
