What is VOB?
A DVD video object (VOB) file is a high-definition file that can be viewed
on PC monitors or large format TV screens. Windows Media Player, VLC and
Media Player Classic are all free applications that support playback for
these files. These apps make it possible to view a disc's contents without
loading it into a DVD player, and resemble each other closely in terms
of media management. Enhanced VOB (EVO) is also an extension to VOB, originally
meant for the now-discontinued HD DVD video. It can contain additional
video and audio formats such H.264 and AAC. Each VOB file must be less
than or equal to one GiB. Files in VOB format have .vob filename extension
and are typically stored in the VIDEO_TS folder at the root of a DVD. You
can extract the VOB file from a DVD, but there are very few players that
are compatible with the VOB format. Digital Versatile Discs, more commonly
called DVDs, use the VOB file format for storing the audio and video content
within the same file. VOB files typically are quite large and cannot be
played once removed from a DVD. Authentication of the disc allows the copying
of individual VOB files without error, but the encryption keys will not
be copied. If the copied undecrypted VOB files are opened in a player,
they will request the keys from the DVD-ROM drive and will fail. If someone
is trying to copy the contents of an encrypted DVD-Video (e.g., VOB files)
to a hard drive, an error can occur, because the DVD was not authenticated
in the drive by CSS decryption software. IFO (information) files contain
all the information a DVD player needs to know about a DVD so that the
user can navigate and play all DVD content properly, such as where a chapter
starts, where a certain audio or subtitle stream is located, information
about menu functions and navigation.
What is iPhone?
iPhone is a smartphone made by Apple that combines an iPod, a tablet PC,
a digital camera and a cellular phone. The device includes Internet browsing
and networking capabilities. The iPhone 5 is a touchscreen-based smartphone
developed by Apple. It is the sixth generation of the iPhone and succeeds
the iPhone 4S. The phone is a slimmer, lighter model that introduces a
higher-resolution, 4-inch screen to the series with 16:9 widescreen aspect
ratio support. The phone also includes a custom-designed ARMv7 processor
called the Apple A6, an update to Apple's mobile operating system known
as iOS 6, and support for LTE. The Camera application also lets users view
the camera roll, the pictures that have been taken with the iPhone's camera.
Those pictures are also available in the Photos application, along with
any transferred from iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac, or Photoshop on a Windows
PC. For some years, Apple and its manufacturing contractor Foxconn have
received criticism due to poor working conditions at the assembly plant
in China. Once a developer has submitted an application to the App Store,
Apple holds firm control over its distribution. Apple can halt the distribution
of applications it deems inappropriate, for example, I Am Rich, a US$1000
program that simply demonstrated the wealth of its user. Apple has been
criticized for banning third-party applications that enable a functionality
that Apple does not want the iPhone to have: In 2008, Apple rejected Podcaster,
which allowed iPhone users to download podcasts directly to the iPhone
claiming it duplicated the functionality of iTunes. Apple has since released
a software update that grants this capability.
