Convert WebM to Xvid
|
WebM to Xvid Converter Software converts WebM files to Xvid
fast. Xvid offers outstanding quality and performance clearly surpassing expensive,
competing products. Xvid allows you to create video for interoperable exchange
with portable or home multimedia devices as Xvid is widely supported in hardware.
Being open-source, Xvid is future-proof and secure to use.
Besides WebM and Xvid, the converter also supports common and uncommon video
and audio formats and protable devices such as 3G2, MMF, MPA, VOB (DVD Video), JPG image sequence, SWF, AMR, etc. It could convert
3G2 to OGM, WebM to WMV, TS to WMV, FLV to MKA, WebM to PNG image sequence, and so on.
WebM to Xvid Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is
full compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is WebM?
WebM is an audio-video format designed to provide royalty-free, open video
compression for use with HTML5 video. The project's development is sponsored
by Google Inc. In mid-2010, Simon Phipps, a board member for the Open Source
Initiative, expressed doubts as to whether the original WebM license was
an open-source license, since it had not been submitted to the OSI for
approval. A key factor in the web's success is that its core technologies
such as HTML, HTTP, and TCP/IP are open for anyone to implement and improve.
With video being core to the web experience, a high-quality, open video
format choice is needed. WebM is 100% free, and open-sourced under a BSD-style
license. VP8 is a highly efficient video compression technology that was
developed by On2 Technologies. Google acquired On2 in February, 2010. For
more information, see the -VP8 Video Codec" section below. WebM Project
licenses VP8 hardware accelerators (RTL IP) to semiconductor companies
for 1080p encoding and decoding at zero cost. AMD, ARM and Broadcom have
announced support for hardware acceleration of the WebM format. Intel is
also considering hardware-based acceleration for WebM in its Atom-based
TV chips if the format gains popularity. Qualcomm and Texas Instruments
have announced support, with native support coming to the TI OMAP processor.
Chip&Media have announced a fully hardware decoder for VP8 that can
decode full HD resolution VP8 streams at 60 frames per second. On 7 January
2011, Rockchip released the world's first chip to host a full hardware
implementation of 1080p VP8 decoding. The video acceleration in the RK29xx
chip is handled by the WebM Project's G-Series 1 hardware decoder IP.
What is Xvid?
Xvid "codec"--which is a fancy word for "what kind of encoding
we used on this video file"--is a variation on the MPEG-4 codec, and
is one of the more popular codecs used for video files. In January 2001,
DivXNetworks founded OpenDivX as part of Project Mayo which was intended
to be a home for open source multimedia projects. OpenDivX was an open-source
MPEG-4 video codec based on a stripped down version of the MoMuSys reference
MPEG-4 encoder. Since Xvid uses MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP) compression,
any video that is encoded with it is termed "MPEG-4 ASP video"
- not "Xvid video" - and can therefore be decoded with all MPEG-4
ASP compliant decoders. In early 2001, DARC member Sparky wrote an improved
version of the encoding core called encore2. This was updated several times
before, in April, it was removed from CVS without warning. The explanation
given by Sparky was "We (our bosses) decided that we are not ready
to have it in public yet." Next to delivering great quality video,
Xvid is also very fast both for de- and encoding. Special optimizations
also for the very latest features of PC processors like hyperthreading,
dual-core or SSE3 instruction set guarantee high-performance video playback
and creation. With usual, so-called proprietary software where source code
is not available to the public, users are stuck in case the creating company
goes bankrupt or discontinues the product. XviD, as a file type, is an
AVI file with video encoded with XviD codec. Sigma Designs promised to
rewrite their codec, but in fact they simply masked it. There were still
XviD elements in the REALmagic MPEG-4 video codec. The issue made its way
to public media, and Sigma Designs had to give in.
