Convert M2TS to MOV/QuickTime
|
M2TS to MOV Converter Software converts M2TS files to MOV
with H.264 or MPEG-4 video codecs. The MOV is QuickTime File Format (QTFF) used
natively by the QuickTime application. The MOV is very common on Mac OS like WMV
on Windows. It's a great tool for converting format when transferring file to
Mac OS. The M2TS to MOV Converter Software also supports other video, audio,
and device formats, for example, CAF (Core Audio Format), OGM, SWF, BMP image sequence, MPG, M4B (MPEG-4 audiobook), 3G2, etc.
The software could convert 3GP to iPhone, EVO to VCD, 3G2 to FLAC, MKV to FLAC, WebM to MP2,
and so on.
M2TS to MOV Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000 (both x86 and 64-bit platforms).
What is M2TS?
.M2TS is the standard file format for Blu-ray discs and many HD camcorders.
Some players will need an appropriate codec, component or plugin installed.
Files in AVCHD format use legacy "8.3" file naming convention,
while Blu-ray Discs use long filenames. That's why the filename extension
of video files is ".MTS" instead of Blu-ray Disc's ".m2ts".
Also other files use different extensions: .CPI - .clpi, .MPL - .mpls,
.BDM - .bdmv. However, programs like Sony Vegas Pro and AVS Video Editor
can open and edit both Sony M2TS files as well as Panasonic M2TS files.
(Sony Vegas Pro v.9 is also capable of reading and editing M2TS files produced
by Canon Vixia Camcorders.) BDAV stands for "Blu-ray Disc Audio/Visual,"
while the M2TS extension refers to "MPEG-2 Transport Stream."
Software that supports M2TS files usually works only with decrypted or
unencrypted files. BDAV disc format is used on BD-RE and BD-R discs for
audio/video recording. Currently, M2TS files can be played using the Picture
Motion Browser, which is an application video player provided with Sony
AVCHD camcorders. The M2TS format is used for compressing video data onto
Blu-ray discs. They can essentially be distributed and opened as individual
video files since M2TS files contain an MPEG-2 video codec. But the file
type M2TS is not always automatically associated with Windows Movie Maker.
That's to say, it's not convenient to edit your M2TS video in Windows Movie
Maker. The BDAV container format used on AVCHD equipment is more restricted
and can contain only H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video compression and Dolby Digital
(AC-3) audio compression or uncompressed LPCM audio.
What is MOV?
MOV is a container format and can contain video, animation, graphics, 3D
and virtual reality (VR) content or text (for subtitles, for example).
Software development kits (SDKs) for QuickTime are available to the public
with an Apple Developer Connection (ADC) subscription. These files will
also play on video iPods, such as the iPod Touch. Of course, compressing
a MOV file can help save storage space and make it easier to download and
distribute the video file. A file that has a .mov extension means that
it is in the QuickTime file format. A .mov video file is in the default
format for all Mac computers. A lot of digital cameras record video in
QuickTime support. The .mov file format is a common video file used by
both Mac and PC computers. QuickTime movie files, which have the file extension
.mov, are among the primary video files that work with Apple's iMovie.
The iMovie video-editing software comes standard with Apple computers.
Importing a movie file into the application and editing it by cutting,
pasting and adjusting the audio/video are all simple processes. You can
then take the edited movie and save it in a new file, be it in .mov or
some other format. Because both MOV and MP4 containers can use the same
MPEG-4 codecs, they are mostly interchangeable in a QuickTime-only environment.
MP4, being an international standard, has more support. This is especially
true on hardware devices, such as the Sony PSP and various DVD players;
on the software side, most DirectShow / Video for Windows codec packs include
an MP4 parser, but not one for MOV. QuickTime is an extensible multimedia
framework developed by Apple Inc., capable of handling various formats
of digital video, picture, sound, panoramic images, and interactivity.
