What is EVO?
High definition video file from an HD DVD disc; stores the movie's main
audio/video data; similar to a .VOB file on a standard DVD; can be played
by various PC video playback programs. Because all variants except 3* DVD
and HD REC employed a blue laser with a shorter wavelength, HD DVD could
store about 3.2 times as much data per layer as its predecessor (maximum
capacity: 15 GB per layer instead of 4.7 GB per layer). It stores video
at up to 1920x1080 60P in MPEG-2, VC-1, or AVC formats. It is an extension
to VOB, which is an extension to MPEG-2 Program stream. All studio-released
movie titles have featured video in a 1080-line format, with companion
supplements in 480i or 480p. All HD DVD titles use UDF version 2.5 as the
file system. In this file system, multiplexed audio and video streams are
stored in EVO container format. Third-party player software for Windows
and Linux have successfully played HD DVD titles using the add-on drive.
The numerical aperture of the optical pick-up head is 0.65, compared with
0.6 for DVD. All HD DVD players are backward compatible with DVD and CD.
The HD DVD Promotion Group was dissolved on March 28, 2008. A wide variety
of resolutions are supported, from low-resolution CIF, all SDTV resolutions
supported by DVD-Video, and HDTV formats: 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. HD DVD-ROM,
HD DVD-R and HD DVD-RW have a single-layer capacity of 15 GB, and a dual-layer
capacity of 30 GB. HD DVD (short for High-Definition/Density DVD) is a
discontinued high-density optical disc format for storing data and high-definition
video. HD DVD video can be encoded using VC-1, AVC, or MPEG-2. The HD DVD
format supports encoding in up to 24-bit/192 kHz for two channels, or up
to eight channels of up to 24-bit/96 kHz encoding.
What is iPhone?
The iPhone is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc.
It runs Apple's iOS mobile operating system, originally named "iPhone
OS". Besides just being a mobile phone, the iPhone is also a fully-functioning
media player. Songs can be transferred to its internal memory from most
home computers as well as the iTunes store, allowing entire music collections
to be portable. Photographs and documents can be viewed on the device's
large color screen, as can full-motion video. For some years, Apple and
its manufacturing contractor Foxconn have received criticism due to poor
working conditions at the assembly plant in China. In February 2012, ComScore
reported that 12.4% of US mobile subscribers use an iPhone. Docked at the
base of the screen, four icons for Phone, Mail, Safari (Internet), and
Music delineate the iPhone's main purposes. On January 15, 2008, Apple
released software update 1.1.3, allowing users to create "Web Clips",
home screen icons that resemble apps that open a user-defined page in Safari.
After the update, iPhone users can rearrange and place icons on up to nine
other adjacent home screens, accessed by a horizontal swipe. With the release
of iOS 6, which was released on September 19, 2012, Apple added features
that enable the user to have options to decline a phone call when a person
is calling them. The user has the capability to reply with a message, or
to set a reminder to call them back at a later time. The removal of the
physical keypad lets the screen be much larger than that of similar-sized
mobile phones. An accelerometer allows the iPhone to react and change its
screen display depending on if it is being viewed horizontally or vertically.
