What is TS?
Video stream format used for storing video on a DVD; compresses video data
using standard MEPG-2 (.MPEG) video compression. It is also known as ITU-T
Rec. H.222.0. Its design goal is to allow multiplexing of digital video
and audio and to synchronize the output. As an MPEG format, there are a
variety of players and methods to play back TS files or to "convert"
them to more compliant MPEG-2 files for authoring as DVD / HD DVD. The
transport stream allows for multiplexing of the digital video and audio,
which means the data is combined into a single synchronous transmission
bit stream, for transmission over a variety of standard mediums such as
DSL, IP, IPv, Ethernet, Cable TV networks, and more. MPEG-2 is the format
used in the DVD-Video format and is also part of the HD DVD specification,
although it has trouble competing with more compressible formats such as
VC-1 and H.264. TS files are often saved as multiple files on a DVD, i.e.
"moviename1.ts," "moviename2.ts," "moviename3.ts,"
etc. They can be played back by various software DVD players and video
editing tools. It is contrasted with program stream, designed for more
reliable media such as DVDs.
What is iPad?
The iPad is classified as a tablet computer, also known simply as a tablet.
These mobile computers are typically larger than the average mobile phone,
smartphone or personal digital assistant, yet smaller than the average
laptop computer. They often integrate a flat multi-touch display, and use
onscreen virtual keyboards as opposed to a physical keyboard. The iPad
showcases all of these hallmarks, without the need for stylus pens that
some tablets may require. Users can rotate their device horizontally to
landscape mode to access Cover Flow. Like on iTunes, this feature shows
the different album covers in a scroll-through photo library. Scrolling
is achieved by swiping a finger across the screen. Alternatively, headset
controls can be used to pause, play, skip, and repeat tracks. Almost all
input is given through the touch screen, which understands complex gestures
using multi-touch. The iPad's interaction techniques enable the user to
move the content up or down by a touch-drag motion of the finger. For example,
zooming in and out of web pages and photos is done by placing two fingers
on the screen and spreading them farther apart or bringing them closer
together, a gesture known as "pinching". Using the iPad requires
a subscription with a wireless carrier. As of publication of this article,
the only supported carriers are AT&T and Verizon. The iPad is designed
for easy online surfing and scrolling at your fingertips. As of 2011 the
iPad offered two models of internet connectivity: 3G and wi-fi only. The
big, beautiful iPad display lets you browse your music collection by song,
artist, album, genre, or composer with the touch of a finger. See your
music as full-size album art. Flip through all your albums and tap to choose
what you want to hear. iPad makes music look as good as it sounds.
