Convert VOB to JPG/JPEG Sequence

JPG/JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography (image). The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

VOB to JPG/JPEG Converter Software converts VOB to JPG/JPEG sequence files. So, you could get every frame image of VOB in JPG/JPEG format. You can also set output frame rate and JPG/JPEG resolution in the software. The output JPG/JPEG files look something like the following screen shot.

The software also supports other formats and portable devices such as M4V, OGM, TIFF image sequence, PPM image sequence, Windows Phone, WMV, ASF, etc. The software could convert RM to FLAC, M2TS to 3G2, M2TS to MP3, AVI to M4V, FLV to 3G2, and so on.

VOB to JPG/JPEG Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.

What is VOB?
VOB files are the DVD movie files that make up a DVD structure. A VOB file contains all information that a DVD needs to play video, sound, menus and subtitles. VOB video is encoded in MPEG-2. Almost all commercially produced DVD-Video titles use some restriction or copy protection method, which also affects VOB files. Copy protection is usually used for copyrighted content. Images, video and audio used in DVD menus are stored in VOB files. Windows Media Player, VLC and Media Player Classic are all free applications that support playback for these files. These apps make it possible to view a disc's contents without loading it into a DVD player, and resemble each other closely in terms of media management. A player of generic MPEG-2 files can usually play unencrypted VOB files, which contain MPEG-1 Audio Layer II audio. Other audio compression formats such as AC-3 or DTS are less widely supported. VOB files may be accompanied with IFO and BUP files. These files respectively have .ifo and .bup filename extensions. Files in VOB format have .vob filename extension and are typically stored in the VIDEO_TS folder at the root of a DVD. If someone is trying to copy the contents of an encrypted DVD-Video (e.g., VOB files) to a hard drive, an error can occur, because the DVD was not authenticated in the drive by CSS decryption software. Many DVD-Video titles are encrypted with Content Scramble System (CSS). This is a data encryption and communications authentication method designed to prevent copying video and audio data directly from the DVD-Video discs. Decryption and authentication keys needed for playing back encrypted VOB files are stored in the normally inaccessible lead-in area of the DVD and are used only by CSS decryption software (e.g., in a DVD player or software player).

What is JPG?
Short for Joint Photographic Experts Group, and pronounced jay-peg. JPEG is a lossy compression technique for color images. Although it can reduce files sizes to about 5% of their normal size, some detail is lost in the compression. While JPEG images can contain colorful, high-resolution image data, it is a lossy format, which means some quality is lost when the image is compressed. If the image is compressed too much, the graphics become noticeably "blocky" and some of the detail is lost. Like GIFs, JPEGs are crossplatform, meaning the same file will look the same on both a Mac and PC. Regular JPEG is "lossy", meaning that the image you get out of decompression isn't quite identical to what you originally put in. The algorithm achieves much of its compression by exploiting known limitations of the human eye, notably the fact that small color details aren't perceived as well as small details of light-and-dark. Thus, JPEG is intended for compressing images that will be looked at by humans. If you plan to machine-analyze your images, the small errors introduced by JPEG may be a problem for you, even if they are invisible to the eye. The JPEG standard includes a separate lossless mode, but it is rarely used and does not give nearly as much compression as the lossy mode. JPEG stores full color information: 24 bits/pixel (16 million colors). GIF, the other image format widely used on the net, can only store 8 bits/pixel (256 or fewer colors). GIF is reasonably well matched to inexpensive computer displays --- most run-of-the-mill PCs can't display more than 256 distinct colors at once. But full-color hardware is getting cheaper all the time, and JPEG photos look *much* better than GIFs on such hardware. Within a couple of years, GIF will probably seem as obsolete as black-and-white MacPaint format does today. Furthermore, JPEG is far more useful than GIF for exchanging images among people with widely varying display hardware, because it avoids prejudging how many colors to use. Hence JPEG is considerably more appropriate than GIF for use as a Usenet and World Wide Web standard photo format.
