It's an ideal 3GP converter for your mobile phone. Besides 3GP, the software supports
popular formats such as Android Tablet, WMV, 3G2, MP4, VOC, MOV, OGM, etc.
The software could convert DAT to 3G2, 3G2 to OGG, RM to WebM (VP8), 3G2 to WMV, MPEG to M4B (MPEG-4 audiobook),
and so on.
XVID to 3GP Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is XVID?
XviD codec compresses standard- and high-definition video for storage in
an AVI file. Based on the MPEG-4 standard, XviD can shrink a 4.7 gigabyte
DVD movie to under 700 megabytes, letting you store it on a recordable
CD for playback on a computer or compatible DVD player. Many portable media
players and mobile phones also support XviD, so you can watch your movies
anywhere you want. The Xvid developers decided to stop work and go public
to force Sigma Designs to respect the terms of the GPL. This is not a format.
It utilizes MPEG-4 ASP (Advanced Simple Profile) compression. Videos encoded
with it are referred to as MPEG-4 ASP videos, so they can be decoded by
all MPEG-4 compatible decoders. Since XviD is open-source software, its
source code is available for public review, so anyone can check it and
make sure there is no spyware or adware. Sigma Designs was contacted and
confirmed that a programmer had based REALmagic on Xvid, but assured that
all GPL code would be replaced to avoid copyright infringement. Primarily,
XviD competed with the proprietary DivX codec, and there was pretty mush
patent controversy around this software. The XviD codec makes it possible
to compress a full-length DVD-quality movie enough to fit on one or two
CDs, depending on the length of the movie. To play XviD videos you first
need to install the XviD codec on your computer. There are no feature,
testing or time restrictions for XviD, and it can be used safely and conveniently
all the time. The codec is available for free, and it is incorporated in
many hardware devices. The format was created to offer a free alternative
to other commercial video codecs, and despite being open source its quality
and efficiency has made it one of the most popular video codecs online.
While XviD still isn't as widely used as the DivX? codec, playback of XviD
movies is usually supported in new DVD players nowadays.
What is 3GP?
3GP is a required file format for video and associated speech/audio media
types and timed text in ETSI 3GPP technical specifications for IP Multimedia
Subsystem (IMS), Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast
Service (MBMS) and Transparent end-to-end Packet-switched Streaming Service
(PSS). 3GPP is the new worldwide standards for the creation, delivery and
playback of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless networks.
The 3GP file format stores video streams as MPEG-4 Part 2 or H.263 or MPEG-4
Part 10 (AVC/H.264), and audio streams as AMR-NB, AMR-WB, AMR-WB+, AAC-LC,
HE-AAC v1 or Enhanced aacPlus (HE-AAC v2). 3GPP file format was designed
for GSM-based Phones and may have the filename extension ".3gp".
The 3GP file type is primarily associated with '3GPP'. Defined by the 3rd
Generation Partnership Project and 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2
respectively, these standards seek to provide uniform delivery of rich
multimedia over newly evolved, broadband mobile networks (3rd generation
networks) to the latest multimedia-enabled wireless devices. The MP4 and
the AVC file format specifications described usage of MPEG-4 content in
the ISO base media file format. 3GPP allowed use of AMR and H.263 codecs
in the ISO base media file format (MPEG-4 Part 12), because 3GPP specified
the usage of the Sample Entry and template fields in the ISO base media
file format as well as defining new boxes to which codecs refer. Tailored
to the unique requirements of mobile devices, 3GPP and 3GPP2 take advantage
of MPEG-4, the standard for delivery of video and audio over the Internet.
Audio imported from CD onto a PlayStation 3 when it is set to encode to
the MPEG-4 AAC codec will copy onto USB devices in the 3GP format.
