Convert 3GP to Xvid
|
3GP to Xvid Converter Software converts 3GP files to Xvid
fast. Xvid offers outstanding quality and performance clearly surpassing expensive,
competing products. Xvid allows you to create video for interoperable exchange
with portable or home multimedia devices as Xvid is widely supported in hardware.
Being open-source, Xvid is future-proof and secure to use.
Besides 3GP and Xvid, the converter also supports common and uncommon video
and audio formats and protable devices such as Android Phone, OGM, MKA, MMF, M4B (MPEG-4 audiobook), M4R (iPhone ringtone), 3G2, etc. It could convert
H264 to OGM, WebM to SWF, RM to M4V, FLV to MP4, 3GP to FLAC, and so on.
3GP to Xvid Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is
full compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is 3GP?
3GP (3GPP file format) is a multimedia container format defined by the
Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for 3G UMTS multimedia services.
Audio imported from CD onto a PlayStation 3 when it is set to encode to
the MPEG-4 AAC codec will copy onto USB devices in the 3GP format. 3GPP
is the new worldwide standards for the creation, delivery and playback
of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless networks. When transferred
to a computer, 3GP movies can be viewed on Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms
with MPlayer and VLC media player. Programs such as Media Player Classic,
K-Multimedia Player, Totem, RealPlayer, QuickTime, and GOM Player can also
be used. These extensions were registered by the registration authority
for code-points in ISO base media file format ("MP4 Family" files).
The 3GP file type is primarily associated with '3GPP'. The 3GP file format
was designed to decrease storage and bandwidth requirements in order to
accommodate mobile phones. The 3GP is structurally based on the ISO base
media file format defined in ISO/IEC 14496-12 - MPEG-4 Part 12, but older
versions of the 3GP file format did not use some of its features. Most
3G capable mobile phones support the playback and recording of video in
3GP format (memory, maximum filesize for playback and recording, and resolution
limits exist and vary). Defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project
and 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 respectively, these standards
seek to provide uniform delivery of rich multimedia over newly evolved,
broadband mobile networks (3rd generation networks) to the latest multimedia-enabled
wireless devices.
What is Xvid?
Video clip or movie encoded using Xvid, an open-source video codec published
under the GNU GPL license; compresses video data using MPEG-4 technology;
allows for faster data transmission and more efficient storage of video
files. In 2002, XviD had tension with Sigma Designs, which released the
REALmagic MPEG-4 video codec. Later, it became evident that the codec was
pretty much based on XviD technology, which was fraught with a serious
copyright infringement issue. Files encoded with global motion compensation,
Qpel, MPEG quantization, multiple B-frames or files that exceed the VBV
limitations may not play back properly on DivX Certified hardware devices.
Due to its free availability and developer-friendliness, Xvid is supported
by many video related applications. That means there are a lot of applications
available that support playback of Xvid video or use Xvid to encode video.
XviD-compressed videos can be 200 times smaller than the source video,
with the visual quality well intact. GNU-licensed 1.0.x releases enjoyed
greater freedom, although there are still legislative restrictions on XviD
use in some regions. Primarily, XviD competed with the proprietary DivX
codec, and there was pretty mush patent controversy around this software.
In July 2001, developers started complaining about a lack of activity in
the project; the last CVS commit was several months old, bugfixes were
being ignored, and promised documentation had not been written. Soon after,
DARC released a beta version of their closed-source commercial DivX 4 codec,
which was based on encore2, saying that "what the community really
wants is a Winamp, not a Linux." It was after this that a fork of
OpenDivX was created, using the latest version of encore2 that was downloaded
before it was removed. Since then, all the OpenDivX code has been replaced
and Xvid has been published under the GNU General Public License.
