What is 3GP?
3GP is a multimedia container format defined by the Third Generation Partnership
Project (3GPP) for use on 3G mobile phones but can also be played on some
2G and 4G phones. The 3GP file type is primarily associated with '3GPP'.
3GPP allowed use of AMR and H.263 codecs in the ISO base media file format
(MPEG-4 Part 12), because 3GPP specified the usage of the Sample Entry
and template fields in the ISO base media file format as well as defining
new boxes to which codecs refer. The MP4 and the AVC file format specifications
described usage of MPEG-4 content in the ISO base media file format. The
3GP is used on 3G mobile phones but can also be played on some 2G and 4G
phones. It stores video streams as MPEG-4 Part 2 or H.263 or MPEG-4 Part
10 (AVC/H.264), and audio streams as AMR-NB, AMR-WB, AMR-WB+, AAC-LC or
HE-AAC. Audio imported from CD onto a PlayStation 3 when it is set to encode
to the MPEG-4 AAC codec will copy onto USB devices in the 3GP format. 3GPP
file format was designed for GSM-based Phones and may have the filename
extension ".3gp". 3GPP is worldwide standard for the creation,
delivery and playback of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless
networks. Most 3G capable mobile phones support the playback and recording
of video in 3GP format (memory, maximum filesize for playback and recording,
and resolution limits exist and vary). 3GPP is the new worldwide standards
for the creation, delivery and playback of multimedia over 3rd generation,
high-speed wireless networks. These extensions were registered by the registration
authority for code-points in ISO base media file format ("MP4 Family"
files).
What is iPhone?
iPhone is recognized being a type of smartphones that has enabled multimedia
and internet in it. It is also commonly known as a connection line of both
these two features. Apple Inc. is the inventor and designer of this type
of smartphone and they are also known as the sole distributor of iPhone
across the globe. The touchscreen on the first five generations is a 9
cm (3.5 in) liquid crystal display with scratch-resistant glass, while
the one on the iPhone 5 is 4 inches. The capacitive touchscreen is designed
for a bare finger, or multiple fingers for multi-touch sensing. The screens
on the first three generations have a resolution of 320 * 480 (HVGA) at
163 ppi; those on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S have a resolution of 640 *
960 at 326 ppi, and the iPhone 5, 1,136 * 640 at 326 ppi. The iPhone 5
model's screen results in an aspect ratio of nearly exactly 16:9. The iPhone
4 featured a higher-resolution 960*640 "retina display", a higher-resolution
rear-facing camera and a lower-resolution front-facing camera for video
calling and other apps. The phone also has an internal flash drive to store
data. Other hardware features include a digital camera, ambient light sensor,
proximity sensor, speaker, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, and, in later
models, A-GPS. The iPhone 3GS has a maximum download rate of 7.2 Mbit/s.
Furthermore, email attachments as well as apps and media from Apple's various
stores must be smaller than 20 MB to be downloaded over a cellular network.
Larger files, often email attachments or podcasts, must be downloaded over
Wi-Fi (which has no file size limits). If Wi-Fi is unavailable, one workaround
is to open the files directly in Safari.
