Convert ASF to MOV/QuickTime
|
ASF to MOV Converter Software converts ASF files to MOV
with H.264 or MPEG-4 video codecs. The MOV is QuickTime File Format (QTFF) used
natively by the QuickTime application. The MOV is very common on Mac OS like WMV
on Windows. It's a great tool for converting format when transferring file to
Mac OS. The ASF to MOV Converter Software also supports other video, audio,
and device formats, for example, DTS, CAF (Core Audio Format), MP3, MPG, MP2, PPM image sequence, AAC, etc.
The software could convert OGG to M4B (MPEG-4 audiobook), VOB to OGM, 3G2 to M4V, FLV to 3G2, MOD to 3GP,
and so on.
ASF to MOV Converter Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000 (both x86 and 64-bit platforms).
What is ASF?
ASF stands for Advanced Systems Format. ASF is an extensible file format
designed to store synchronized multimedia data. ASF specifies the structure
of video or audio stream. Windows software developers are encouraged to
use the available Windows Media SDKs, which include support for creating
and reading Windows Media content including ASF files. They can be compressed
using a variety of video codecs. Although this differentiation was introduced
in 2003, to this date most webbrowsers (including the latest versions of
Internet Explorer and Firefox) do not function as might be expected with
the 'new' extensions: even when a .wma or .wmv file is specifically encoded
for progressive download, browsers still proceed to completely download
the file before playing it. This can, however, be easily remedied by simply
renaming the .wma or .wmv file to the old extension .asf. The format doesn't
specify the way video or audio should be encoded. Advanced Streaming Format
(ASF) does not define the format for any media streams within the file.
Rather, it defines a standardized, extensible file container that is not
dependent on a particular operating system or communication protocol, or
on a particular method (such as HTML or MPEG 4) used to compose the data
stream in the file. The advantage of ASF format is that you may begin playing
your video file before it is streamed to the end. File format that wraps
various content bitstreams; data types can include audio, video, script
command, JPEG-compressed still images, binary, and other streams defined
by developers. These files are identical to the old .ASF files but for
their extension and MIME-type.
What is MOV?
The MOV file type is a video file developed by Apple, most commonly associated
with the QuickTime video player. The classic version of QuickTime is available
for Windows XP and later, as well as Mac OS X Leopard and later operating
systems. With additional QuickTime Components, it can also support ASF,
DivX Media Format, Flash Video, Matroska, Ogg, and many others. Files that
use the MOV file extension are created by QuickTime, Apple's media software.
Although this file is created and designed by Apple, the video format has
become popular enough that both systems accept .mov content (otherwise,
a majority of the video files downloaded form the Internet become unusable
on Windows-based systems). If you want to play MOV files on your computer,
you'll have to download Apple's own Quicktime player from its website.
The advantage of MOV files is the ability to contain abstract data references
for the media data. That means that they can be easily edited - no need
to rewrite all media data after editing. A .mov video file is in the default
format for all Mac computers. MOV video file is common multimedia format
often used for saving movies and other video files, uses a proprietary
compression algorithm developed by Apple Computer, compatible with both
Macintosh and Windows platforms. The format specifies a multimedia container
file that contains one or more tracks, each of which stores a particular
type of data: audio, video, effects, or text (e.g. for subtitles). Other
media programs and digital devices, including Windows Media Player and
many digital cameras, also use the format to store video files. MOV files
are played on a QuickTime Video player. QuickTime player is a free media
player developed by Apple and is available for Windows and Mac OS X systems.
This easy-to-use player allows you to play your MOV files of different
sizes and aspect ratios at high resolutions. Watch your standard or high-definition
MOV files in the best way possible.
